Pregnancy Update

A few weeks ago, back in the middle of July, my blood pressure started getting fairly high, which is the same thing that happened my last pregnancy with Teague. One Sunday I wasn't feeling well at all, so I had Tyson take my blood pressure, and it was really high. We decided that I better go into the hospital to have my labs drawn and to be monitored for awhile, just to make sure that everything was ok. My labs were ok and my blood pressure started to return closer to normal once I was just sitting there in the bed. We were glad that everything was ok as far as my blood pressure once I was resting, but I was also contracting every 3 minutes. I ended up getting two doses of terbutaline and a dose of nifedipine, which helped slow the contractions down. They decided to give me Betamethasone, which is a steroid to help develop the baby's lungs, just in case I were to deliver early, because at this point in time I was only 32 weeks. I was able to go home on modified bedrest, and on nifedipine for the contractions. Over the next couple of weeks I was in and out of the hospital for bi-weekly monitoring, and seemed to be doing well. I was contracting here and there but they would go away with the medicine. Another good thing about the nifedipine is that it lowers your blood pressure, so it was good for lowering my pressures as well.

I went into the hospital yesterday for an NST, and of course I was contracting every 3 minutes again and my blood pressures were elevated. They checked my cervix and I am now dilated to 3cm. They drew my labs again and wanted to keep me overnight for observation, but after my labs came back normal and my pressures started to come down, I was allowed to go home. Thank goodness since we are not ready for this baby to come. We are hoping to get at least a couple more weeks!! And, my mom is out of town on vacation until Thursday, which stresses me out!!:) But, I know that with whatever happens, things will be ok!! We just want this baby to be ok and healthy, whether that means the best place for it is in utero or out!!
