Bronx Burrup Wheatley
Born 8/6/2011 at 0145-----5 lb 1 oz & 18.5in long
Our precious little Bronx decided to make his appearance a little bit early...but we are so excited to have him here. I was just over 35wk, which is when I delivered Teague, so I guess he just wanted to follow in his big brother's footsteps!!:)
A few days ago I was in the hospital again for an NST and was having the same issues with my blood pressure being high. They wanted to keep me again overnight for observation, but my labs came back normal again, and I didn't really want to stay. They let us go home and put me on blood pressure medicine. The next day, I wasn't feeling well at all and with both medicines that I was taking, my blood pressures were still really elevated. Tyson and I decided I better go in and be evaluated again since the medicine didn't seem to be helping and also hadn't been feeling the baby move as much that day.
After being monitored for a little bit, Bronx was having little variables and didn't have a stellar tracing and my blood pressures were remaining elevated. Also, we got the results back from my 24hr urine protein and it was a little bit high as well. After going over our options and taking everything into account, we decided it would be best to deliver before I got really 'sick' like I did with Teague. Both Tyson and I were a little bit anxious but knew that delivery was the best thing for both me and Bronx.
It was a great night to have him because one of my most favorite nurses and best friends, Nicole, was on and was able to be my nurse, as well as Dr. Dyer, who I think is great!!:) Also, my mom got back from her vacation and was able to keep Teague. They started me on pitocin and then broke my water around 2200, at which time I was still 3cm. I got my epidural shortly after that and was feeling pretty comfortable and good about everything, (minus the fact that my epidural was making me itch like crazy!!) A little bit later my epidural was wearing off and I started to feel the contractions really strong again. Nicole checked me and I was 7cm. The CRNA came in and redosed my epidural, which seemed to help a little bit, but I was still hurting more than I had hoped, but what can you do?!:) Dr. Dyer came in around 0125 because Bronx was having pretty deep variables with each contraction. He checked me and I was complete, so they put me up in stirrups and had me start to push. It was a lot different than with Teague!! I didn't feel any of the pushing part with Teague, where with this delivery...I felt like I was feeling everything and wasn't impressed!! Haha Little Bronx was posterior, so it made it a little bit harder to move him while pushing, but after 15 minutes of pushing, and Tyson holding my hand and cheering me on, Bronx Burrup Wheatley was born at 0145!!
What an amazing feeling to finally be able to hold such a precious little boy!!:) We feel so blessed that everything went well and are grateful for another adorable little boy to add to our family!!
Bronx had to go over to the NICU because he is early and was having a little bit of difficulty breathing. They placed him on CPAP, at 30% oxygen, but were soon able to wean him down to just room air!! Poor little guy!! His face was so squished from wearing the CPAP mask!!

Later in the evening, Teague was able to come and visit. He shared my Winger's salad with me, and then was able to go over and see baby Bronx!! By then, they had weaned Bronx off of the CPAP (Woohoo!!) and had placed him in an isolette. Teague just stared into the isolette at him, not really knowing what to think, and then started slapping the top of his isolette!! I think he was just telling him 'hi' and 'welcome, little brother'!!:)
