Storm of the Century

Last night, we were out doing some shopping. When we went into TJ Maxx, the wind had really picked up and it was looking overcast, but hadn't started raining yet. After we were done and getting ready to head out to the Yukon, we looked out and saw an unbelievable amount of water coming down, as well as flooding the parking lot. I have never seen it rain so hard and having it be incredibly windy didn't help matters. I ran and got the car while Tyson waited by the store and held Teague where they could stay out of the rain. By the time I had ran to the car, which was probably only 30 yards away, I was SOAKED!! It felt like I had just jumped into a swimming pool. My hair and clothes were dripping!! I went and picked Tyson and Teague up and we drove around a little bit in the flooding streets. I have never seen so much water in such a short amount of time and it had also caused several of the street lights to go out.

We went through a drive-in and got dinner and decided that we didn't want to go back to the apartment yet because we didn't want to have to be out in the rain again. Tyson drove us down to the park by the river and we had a little picnic in the back of the Yukon. We had taken the back set of seats out awhile back, and just so happened to have a blanket. We spread it out in the back and had our little picnic at the park...only it was inside!!:) It made for a fun night and Teague thought it was great!! It was definitely a storm to remember!! When we got back to the apartment, the rain had slowed down quite a bit, but the sidewalks and surrounding grounds were completely covered over. When we got to our front door, our door mat had been washed into the pool that had formed by the side of our door!!:)
