Happy Holidays

Dear Family & Friends-

We just wanted to write all of you and give you a brief update as to what 2010 has brought to us and the many changes that have occurred in our lives. I graduated from Idaho State in May with my nursing degree, we moved to Washington’s Tri-Cities area in September, and we both started our new jobs in Washington in September as well. Melissa has made it home a few times. I have made it home twice. We both suffered losses of beloved family members in November. As life always brings its bitter-sweet and up and down moments, we truly have been blessed through it all, though it is hard to be away from both our families.

As 2010 was scheduled to start with a bang for us, it was actually 2009 that ended in a bang when our baby decided to come a month early. Teague has grown at an exponential rate and we have been happy with his development. He really is the most chill baby and is happy 99.9% of the time. The other 0.1% he can really give you a run for your money. He was blessed in February, and started sleeping through the night for us the night before Easter Sunday, which was a joyful time in the Wheatley household. He started crawling in September and got his first teeth in early October. He currently has six now. He really has been a good sport through it all. He has been getting into everything and tries to hurt himself often as he learns new tricks such as pulling vacuums, chairs, and decorative tables down onto himself. His laugh is priceless and Melissa is always telling me how often people out in public will compliment him. He usually seems to know when he has an audience to perform for.

Melissa’s year started on a high note as she took maternity leave until mid-March, after which she went back to work on a part-time basis at Portneuf Medical Center. She is still a labor/delivery nurse. Let me just tell you that she is a better nurse than she is a patient when it comes to the labor part, not because of the pain aspect but because of the baby monitors. It was impossible to distract her from staring at the baby monitors all night. I would even turn the volume down whenever she wasn’t looking. She is currently working per-diem in the birth center in Washington. She stays at home with Teague the rest of the time and is a great mom and loves every minute of it. Though I am never quite the fan of her dressing Teague up in little girl clothes at times. She also likes to teach him bad habits, such as shopping, and this thing called fashion. Kind of a new concept to me over the past couple years and still continues to frustrate her with my lack of it. She likes her new job and continues to meet new people and has also started a craft business with a friend in Washington. She never ceases to amaze me.

As for me, nothing too exciting. I started the year in school at ISU and working on the ranch/farm with my dad. Graduated in May, studied like crazy for my national boards exam, passed it in July, and got an interview in Washington three days later as the hospital flew both Melissa and I up. Just about a week later, we both received offers and since it was the only interview I received in the whole job hunting process of nearly 150 applications, it was sort of a no brainer decision to make the move. I have enjoyed my first nursing job out of school so far, just a huge learning curve that a classroom couldn’t teach. As much as I like my nursing job, it still doesn’t come close to filling the void of working on the ranch alongside my dad. We live in a good area. We have a happy and healthy family. I love being a dad and have the best wife I can ask for. There really isn’t any room to complain about anything from 2010 and hope 2011 brings the best for us and for all of you. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May God bless all of you in your upcoming endeavors.

With Love,
Tyson, Melissa, & Teague
