After what seems like forever, we are finally moved into our house. Things are not put away and it is still full of boxes, but we are in!!:) What a fiasco this project has been!! Upon returning to our house after having renters for the last 6 months, it was an unpleasant surprise to open the door to: toothpaste in my sinks, scum in my shower, a few extra holes in the walls, stains in the carpet, enough crumbs in the kitchen to feed an army of ants, crayon on the my fireplace brick, and ketchup on my pantry shelf...just to name a few!! Needless to say, the house was not move in ready and it took several hours of cleaning. We decided to paint everything before moving in, including all trim, doors, walls, etc. We also made small repairs here and there that we never got around to while we were living here before. As with all projects, things just seemed to take longer than expected and with each passing day that we were staying with my parents, we felt more and more guilty about the fact that we were living with them longer than we had anticipated. The most frustrating thing about getting back in our house was the paint!! We had quite the time. The original color that I chose, (which I bought 5 gallons of to start) looked like flesh on a wall and I knew that there was no way I could live with pink, fleshy walls. After literally days of going back and forth from the paint store to try and have them custom make me a color, we finally got a color we liked. That wasn't the end of the paint problem though. There was one gallon in there that was supposedly like the others that didn't quite match, which resulted in us having to paint two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms twice!! So frustrating. We also had a gallon of the white that was pink tinged!! Who would have guessed?! So that delayed things as well because I really was not fond of having pinkish colored doors!! It feels so good to be done with the painting and to not have to go back to the paint store again for a long, long time!! We had so much help from family in all of this and we are so grateful for everything that everybody did to help!! I think almost every member of our families can say they helped in some way, whether it was cleaning, repairing, caulking, helping watch Teague, moving things in, or just letting me vent about the whole fiasco!!:) Thanks everybody for all of your help!! We couldn't have done it without you!!
Teague through this whole process has been such a trooper!! There were several days where my mom and I would head into town with Teague and spend hours in there painting!! Teague was such a good boy to just play with his toys and stay out of the way for the most part!! I kind of felt like a negligent mother through all of this because he was seriously so good at having to entertain himself. There was one particular day where we did have a little paint accident and it was so funny, even though Teague didn't think so!! He was headed down the stairs to see my mom and just happened to get in the paint on the way down!! How he didn't get any paint on the carpet is a miracle!!
