Oregon- Crabbing

One of the days we went crabbing. Tyson loved every minute of it. It was so fun watching him get so excited every time he would pull one of the baskets up and see the crabs that he had caught that round. The crabs have to be a certain length in order to keep them, and you can only keep the males. Tyson, my dad and I were in one boat, and then Chris, Taylor, Mandy and Kylee were in the other. I think all together, between both boats, we were able to keep 13. The other boat definitely out "crabbed" us....but we were able to get a few keepers!!:) Again, my mom was so sweet and stayed back at the beach house with Teague.

Tyson and my dad with their basket of crabs. The thing in the middle is the bait--frozen mink!! It was really nasty and the more it started to thaw out, the more it started to stink!!

These are some of the crabs that the other boat caught. The one on the top was huge compared to the others. It was definitely the "king" crab of the day.
We went back to the beach house and had the crab that night for dinner. We had the people at the Crab Shack boil and clean them for us, so all we had to do was warm them. Chris, Tyson, and my Dad had more than they could eat, since none of the girls really like crab. They spent hours trying to dig all of the meat out. Looked like a lot of work to me, but they seemed to really enjoy having such fresh crab.
Tyson holding the "king" and then one of the others. It was so much bigger than the rest.

All of the crabs before warming them for dinner.

Teague loved touching them. It was so cute watching his curiosity.

Dinner after such a fun day of crabbing!!
